After leaving the Museum of Natural History, I hailed a cab during the worst possible time. It was rush hour AND President Obama was leaving the White House. It took forever to hail a cab and about thirty minutes to drive a few miles. While getting to know my cab driver, I thought of my 8th graders and their work to explore citizenship and civic identity. This turned out to be one of the most memorable parts of my trip to DC.

Dinosaurs, Tigers, and Mummies– Oh, My!
Washington, DC is known for its monuments AND museums. The mummies and dinosaurs are my favorite exhibits at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. Have you been to a museum? If so, what was your favorite exhibit?
Tiger and Principal McNeal are on a Mission in Washington, DC.
This weekend, Tiger and our principal, Mrs. McNeal, went to Washington, D.C. on special assignment. Auxvasse 7th graders sent them off to find certain monuments and sites. How many do you recognize?
